Editor’s Corner MarApr

The first event coming up is the Republic County Czech Club will be participating in the Cuba, Kansas annual Rock A Thon which runs March 19th – 21st. The Rock A Thon is a several days event to promote the town. The 19th is designated “Czech Day” during this event and will feature Czech food and culture.

On March 20th, The Nebraska Czechs of Wilber Kick-off dance. There is no admission to this event. There will be performances by the Alumni Band, the Junior and Senior Wilber Czech Dancers and the Czechland Trio. They will also be crowning the new Wilber Czech Queen, Prince, and Princess.
The American Czech Educational Center will be holding their festival April 11th in St. Louis. It’s a nice facility, with great food and entertainment.

Oklahoma Kolache Festival will be held on May 2nd in Prague, Oklahoma. The Kolache festival is a city wide event with dancing, food, drink, and vendors. It is a great event with great people. I missed it last year, but I’m hoping to make it this year,
Lincoln Nebraska Czech Club Festival will be held on May 3rd. It will once again be held in the Pla-Mor Ballroom. It is always a great time with vendors, Czech Queens, accordion jam, dancing, a raffle, other entertainment, and Czech food. Plan on stopping by if you’re in the area.

I’m using photos on the photo page taken throughout last year until I can get photos at the festivals. I am including a couple photos there Janet sent with her article.

After what seems like a long winter, it’s nice to have some festivals to look forward to. I’m hoping to make it to as many of these as I can, so please say hi if you see me.
